Both are native NZ botanicals with centuries of use in rongoā Māori for skin conditions. Kawakawa contains over 60 active compounds - including pellitorine, which has analgesic properties, and myristicin, which supports the body's anti-inflammatory response. Kanuka has well-documented anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, and its lighter molecules penetrate skin more easily than most botanical oils. The first clinical trial on kanuka oil showed significant improvement in eczema symptoms when used as part of an emollient routine - without any serious adverse effects.

Yes - sensitive skin is our starting point for every Finishya formula. The Pink Balm is specifically formulated for skin that needs targeted, gentle care. That said, it does contain active botanical oils including kanuka and lavender, so if your skin is particularly reactive we'd always recommend patch testing on a small area first before applying more widely.

Yes - many people use it as a targeted facial balm for dry patches, blemish-prone areas, and irritated spots. Because it's a concentrated balm rather than a light moisturiser, a little goes a long way on the face. Apply sparingly and warm between fingertips before dabbing onto the skin. Patch test first if your facial skin is particularly reactive.

All three are vegan balms made in small batches in Dunedin - but they're formulated for very different needs. The Pink Balm is a restoring skin balm - kawakawa and kanuka for dry, irritated, and stressed skin. The Blue Balm is a soothing muscle balm - active botanicals including peppermint and arnica for post-workout recovery and muscle tension. The Green Balm is a relaxing sleep balm - kawakawa and lavender for a calming evening ritual. Three different jobs, three different formulas.

Yes - and it's one of the best ways to use it. Apply a slightly thicker layer to dry, stressed, or irritated areas before bed and let the formula work while you sleep. Skin does most of its recovery work overnight, and the balm has time to fully absorb and support that process. Focus on areas that tend to be persistently dry - elbows, hands, facial dry patches - and you'll notice a difference by morning.
