About This Workshop:

Perfect for beginners and fragrance enthusiasts alike. In this workshop, we will guide you through making and blending your own perfume, creating a personalised fragrance for yourself or a loved one. You’ll take home 30ml of your custom scent, a blending guide, and the skills to start experimenting with your own creations.

We used to run large group perfume workshops at the Tuhura Otago Museum, and loved the energy and creativity in the room. After many requests from past attendees, we now offer private perfume sessions for up to two guests per booking, allowing us to give you our full attention and guide you through blending techniques in a relaxed, distraction-free setting.

It makes an unforgettable gift too - whether it's a birthday, a hen's party, or just something to do with someone you love.

 

What You’ll Take Home:

  • 30ml Eau de Parfum of your own design - a scent built entirely around what you love.

  • Perfume blending guide booklet - fragrance history, the blending process, and tips to keep experimenting at home.

  • 2 hours of hands-on perfume making - guided from start to finish - no prior knowledge needed.

  • 25 fragrance notes to explore - beginner friendly and thoughtfully selected - florals, woods, musks, citruses, and more.

  • Relaxed, creative environment - intimate sessions of just two people - focused, fun, and distraction-free.

Before You Book:

Sessions are for up to 2 people. If you book one spot, you may be paired with one other guest. Book both spots to have the session to yourselves. 

All bookings are final and non-refundable - please book carefully.

Questions about this experience

  • None at all - and that's genuinely the whole point. You don't need to know the difference between a top note and a base note before you arrive (though you'll know by the time you leave). The workshop is designed to be exploratory and hands-on, not academic. You follow your nose and Elza guides the rest. Most people say it's one of the most surprisingly enjoyable things they've done.
  • Possibly - sessions are for up to 2 people, so if you book one spot you may be joined by one other guest. Sessions never have more than 2 people, so it's always intimate regardless. If you'd prefer to have the session entirely to yourself or just with your companion, book both spots when you check out.
  • That's entirely up to you - and that's the point. You're not choosing from a pre-made range. You're building something from scratch using 25 fragrance notes, guided by Elza. Most people are genuinely surprised by how much they love what they create. The blending guide booklet you take home also gives you the tools to keep refining your blend after the workshop.
  • It's one of the best gifts you can give someone who loves fragrance - because they get to make something completely their own.
